Review: ink, machined aluminum pens

October 17, 2014 Drew Fleisher

ink began as a KickStarter project from the folks at famed Hot Rod shop KarasKustoms.  Machined out of blocks of solid aluminum, they hoped to make Kustom keepsakes.  Pens to last with industrial aesthetics and the weight and feel of classic writing instruments.  It took some time for them to complete their task, but these are some amazingly quality pens.

The project needed to raise $10,000 to fund the time it would take away from the shop to complete the pens, and instead raised more than $90,000.  A great success story, but it meant they had to spend a lot more time making pens than they thought they would.

The folks at KarasKustoms sent me both fountain and ballpoint versions, and both are fantastic

The pens will be available soon from their website, and you can sign up now to get on the waiting list.  Prices start at $85 for the rollerball or fountain versions.  If you are looking for a pen that will last forever and look great in any bag or office you won't be disappointed by these amazing pens.
